Auckland Film Studios

Auckland Film Studios is located in Waitakere, west of downtown Auckland, New Zealand’s largest city. We are just 20 minutes from the Central Business District, and only 25 minutes from the beach where director Jane Campion shot the stunning coastal scenes for her film The Piano.

Our 10.5 hectare site has three studios containing 3,576m² (38,539 ft²) of space. Stage 5, our largest state-of-the-art sound stage at 1,924 m² (21,000 ft²), has been well received by international productions such as Emperor and The Warrior’s Way.

Auckland Film Studios is ideally located to take maximum advantage of the wide variety of locations the Auckland isthmus and New Zealand are renowned for.

Within 30 minutes of our site you will find commercial and residential urban settings with varied contemporary and period architecture, wild black sand West Coast beaches, stunning rural countryside, beautiful native bush, attractive vineyards and the golden and white sand beaches of our placid East Coast.
